Ahmed Tarek joined PFI Asset Management in January 2025, taking the role of Risk Manager. Ahmed plays a crucial role in identifying, analyzing and mitigating risks that could affect the firm’s investment strategies, portfolios and funds, and the overall financial stability of the firm in order to help the firm to achieve sustainable growth in a highly dynamic environment.
Tarek has over 12 years of extensive experience in the banking sector in the risk management field. He started his journey in 2013 with Banque Du Cairo as Market Risk Analyst and later as Senior Market Risk Analyst in the Market & Liquidity Department, where he acquired strong knowledge in the risk management field for six years. His main role was to prepare value at risk (VaR), stress testing reports, as well as being responsible for calculating, determining and analyzing Gaps between Assets and Liabilities measured by tenors (Maturity Gaps Report) besides monitoring these Gaps with the Treasury dep. as well as preparing Re-pricing Gaps Report (IRRRB Report) and Liquidity risk ratios Reports (LCR & NSFR).
Later on, Tarek joined The United Bank as Market Risk & Treasury Middle Office Section Head, where he focused on developing various approaches in managing different kinds of risk, while focusing on Risk Identification, Risk Measurement, Mitigation of Risk and Risk Monitoring.
Following that, Ahmed Tarek joined Arab African International Bank as Deputy Risk Manager for four years. His main duties & responsibilities was to prepare on a daily basis Value of Risk “VaR” reports, monitoring limits and reporting breaches (if any) for the FX Portfolio, Interest Rate Trading Risk (IRR) of trading EGP Treasury Bills & Bonds portfolio and Equities (Shares) Portfolio positions.
In his previous roles in the Risk Management field, Tarek was involved in developing fixed income tools & equities’ revaluation & reconciliation process, computing risk’ capital requirements, liquidity requirements & gaps, P&L for financial securities Portfolio, dealing with dealing rooms to mitigate any future risk that may arises from daily operations. Ahmed has devised strategic initiatives to enhance all available tools for developing risk management as required.
Tarek graduated from Cairo University holding a Bachelor of Commerce & specialized as an Actuarial Sciences graduate.
